There's a quote that gets misquoted constantly: "A jack of all trades is a master of none." The full version reads: "A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one." That second half changes everything. It's also a more accurate description of how I work.
I'm a digital multipotentialite — a software engineer turned UX designer turned digtial marketer and web developer — and I've stopped pretending that's a problem. That's actually awesome!
My career has spanned from frontend engineering, UX design, digital marketing, and web development — and currently runs on two tracks: managing performance marketing and analytics at a digital agency, and teaching Business Analytics students at Lambton College. The through-line isn't the job title. It's using technology to solve something specific.
On Medium, I write about what I'm actually working on: building better workflows with AI, making sense of marketing data, and occasionally the career logic that got me from one field to the next. No broad life lessons — just the specific things I've figured out, and the ones I'm still working through. In between, you'll also read my travel blogs, and I hope you like reading about them as well.
